History
Patients who were using eye drops to control their high eye pressure noted that they were growing long, lush eyelashes. Allergan, the manufacturer of the eye drop, initiated clinical trials investigating the usage of this eye pressure drop as a cosmetic drug. In 2008, the FDA approved Latisse® for the cosmetic use of darkening and lengthening eyelashes.
The Process
Make Latisse® a part of your daily routine. Before going to bed, simply apply the Latisse® solution to the base of your eyelashes on your upper eyelid with the applicator provided. Be sure to use each applicator once on only one eye to prevent the spread of bacteria.
It’s important to note that Latisse® works gradually and dramatically with full results usually realized by 3 months. In the clinical study, 78% of participants experienced a significant increase in overall eyelash length, fullness, and darkness after 4 months of using Latisse.
Side Effects
The most common side effects of Latisse® include eye redness and itchiness, skin hyperpigmentation, and brown pigmentation of the iris.
